Can I book a sitter to stay overnight? +

If you have an overnight sit where the sitter will be there to wake up with the children in the morning, our rates are $100 flat while your child(ren) are sleeping in additional to our typical hourly rates while your child(ren) are awake.

If I travel to a different city that BC is in can I book sitters there? +

Absolutely! To do this you just need to edit your Location and Membership Plan section to be the city you will be in and then edit your Family Info Form to add the new specific area of the city you will be in. You can change this whenever you travel to a city.

Can I book more sits than what is included in my membership? +

Absolutely! We recommend upgrading your membership so you do not pay our overage fees and we are happy to do this for you. If you would prefer to pay the overage fees and not upgrade, you can see what they will be here. Each account is audited at the end of each billing cycle and automatically charged to your card on file.

Can I book a sitter on a holiday? +

Please request a sit on the holiday you need care and be aware that you must pay your sitter time and a half if it is accepted. Holidays that require time and a half are New Years Eve, New Years Day, Valentines Day (after 5pm), Easter, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Black Friday, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

What if my kid gets sick mid-sit? +

Please relieve our sitter so they do not have to sit for your sick child. Full payment is expected for a sit cut short due to illness. Unfortunately, if our sitter gets sick they are out of work and will have to cancel on many other families who need care

Should I tip my sitter? +

Absolutely!! We highly encourage tipping your sitters. They are providing a service that is incredibly valuable.

My sitter has to pay to park where the sit is, who pays for parking? +

Our sitters only pay for gas to get to and from sits. If your sitter has to pay to sit for you please reimburse them or even better, offer to pay it for them upfront.

Can I book sitters for an event/large group? +

We can help! Please send through one request per sitter you will need for your event and leave detailed notes about the event in the sit notes. Group rates are $20/hour for our sitters.

Do I need to pay extra for my sitter to transport my child? +

The only extra payment is a $0.50 mileage reimbursement to your sitter whenever they are transporting your child in their own vehicle.

How do I change the time of my confirmed sit? +

Please text your sitter (you can find their number in your confirmation email link or by clicking the sit on your booking calendar) and see if they can cover your new times. If they cannot, you can edit the sit and request a new sitter who is available at those times. If you will be requesting another sitter within 48 hours of the requested sit, there is a cancellation fee paid to the sitter who you canceled as well as a short-notice fee for rescheduling with less than 24 hours notice.

I need to cancel on short (less than 24 hours) notice. +

You can cancel your sit by editing it in your booking calendar. We do charge a cancellation fee that goes directly to the sitter as they may not be able to book with another family on short notice. If you need to cancel a sit with less than 1 hour notice, we require full payment for the scheduled time. The cancellation fee is $25 with 1-24 hours notice and $10 for cancellations within 24-48 hours. Fees are charged to your credit card on file and sent directly to the sitter.

I forgot to cancel my sit and they just showed up at my house! +

When a sit is not canceled within 1 hour of the scheduled start time, the full cost of the sit is due to your scheduled sitter. We make every effort to remind you of upcoming sits, including adding them to your booking calendar and sending confirmation emails. It is unfair not to pay the sitter who has blocked time on their schedule, turned down other opportunities for work, and has driven to your home.

I need a sitter on short notice. +

Unfortunately we do not specialize in short notice sits, however, you are welcome to submit a request through our site. We will do our best to cover your sit but we cannot guarantee coverage. If the sit is covered, a short-notice booking fee will be charged. These fees are based on your city and membership level and can be found on our website under Pricing. After submitting a request with less than 24 hours notice, please send us a text to 512-200-4418 so we can notify our team.

What if I am able to relieve my sitter prior to the scheduled end time? +

Because our sitters are booked specifically for your family and their time was held for the specific amount of time, they should be compensated for however long their sit was scheduled. Please book sits as close to the time that you need. If there needs to be some cushion in the time, please book for the longer time and make a note that the end-time may fluctuate.

What if I need my sitter to stay later than scheduled while they are already at my home? +

Please ask your sitter directly if they are able to stay later. If they are, you will need to pay the sitter an overtime fee of time and a half that starts accruing 30 minutes after their original end time until you relieve them. If the sitter is unable to stay later than scheduled, please be sure to relieve them at the scheduled time.

Can I book a sit if my child is sick? +

We ask that you do not endanger our sitters by booking someone when your child is sick.

We ask that you cancel sits if your child has the following symptoms. Cancellation fees DO apply if a sit is canceled due to illness within 48 hours of the sit.

  • Sore Throat
  • Upset Stomach
  • Fever (over 100.0)
  • Diarrhea
  • Mouth Sores
  • Ringworm
  • Hand Foot and Mouth
  • Runny Nose with Discoloration
  • Cough and Congestions
  • Discharge from Eyes, Nose or Ears
  • Abnormal Breathing
  • Any Communicable Disease

Children must be free from fever, diarrhea and vomiting, without taking medicine for 24 hours prior to a sit.

Children with HFM must be fever free for 72 hours AND all blisters have scabs or are dry and inactive.

Can your sitters do drop-offs and pick-ups? +

Yes! We ask that you leave detailed notes in your booking notes about where your child(ren) need to be picked up and dropped off at so the sitter you select can determine if they are able to provide this service.

Please keep in mind that we have a 3 hour minimum payment for all sits. If the sitter is only needed for 1 hour, you will still be required to pay them for 3.

How long or short can a sit be? +

We can offer sits from 3 hours to overnight. Should you need a sitter for less than 3 hours, 3 hours of pay is still required.

What are the babysitter's responsibilities? +

Our sitters are only expected to help with childcare. Our goal is to provide safe reliable care for your children in your home. Below is a list of what our sitters' responsibilities are.

  • Help with bedtime routines
  • Help with meals and snacks
  • Help with homework and virtual learning
  • Keep children entertained and engaged
  • Clean up after activities and food

I have a newborn or baby. Should I use your serivce? +

Yes! We have tons of sitters with newborn, baby, and infant experience. When you enter your children's ages in your profile, you will only see sitters who are comfortable with those ages when booking a sit. We also know that every family is different and we encourage every family to completely fill out their Family Info Form in their profile so our sitters know exactly what you will expect from them before they even walk in the door.

What happens once I request a sitter? +

Once you select a sitter, it will send them an email notifying them. Your sitter will have 48 hours to accept or reject your sit. If your sitter accepts your sit, you will be sent a confirmation email. If your sitter is unable to take the sit, we will either rebook for you with a different sitter or let you know so that you can rebook yourself - depending on your preference.

We receive roughly 60+ sits each day and we always have our eyes on your request. When sits are booked more than 48 hours in advance it is very rare we are unable to get it covered.

Do you have COVID-19 vaccinated sitters? +

Yes we do! About 80% of our sitters are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and you can see this info in their bios when you login to book someone.

What is Consistent Care? +

We are no longer accepting submissions for Summer Consistent Care in Austin. Please contact us for care starting in the Fall though! We are still accepting Summer submissions in San Antonio.

Consistent Care is for families that prefer to have the same one or two sitters provide childcare for 20+ hours each week on a set schedule.

When you apply for our Consistent Care program, you will let us know what you are looking for in terms of weekly hours and your sitter's preferred experience and skills. You will then be sent information on 1-3 sitters who are interested in being matched with your family. From there, you will have the opportunity to speak with each sitter and decide which one(s) you would like to move forward with.

If you are interested in being matched with a sitter for 20-40 hours per week, please email us (paty@babysittingconnection.com)! We require families to become members prior to us beginning our match process. Families are welcome to join with our smallest membership to start and you may upgrade, downgrade or cancel at at anytime.

Please note that you will still have access to our entire database of sitters and can book any of them for sits outside of your normal consistent care schedule. We are also able to easily provide replacement care should you consistent sitters be unable to sit on specific days.

Am I allowed to meet my sitter prior to my sit? +

Your sitter will reach out to you via text 24-48 hours prior to the sit. Out of respect for our sitters' time and the number of families our sitters sit for, we do not allow members to meet with their sitters before a sit. We recommend adding an extra 15 minutes to your sit time if you would like to be there with your sitter and children to facilitate the introduction and go over any expectations with them.

How do I upgrade/downgrade my membership? +

You can upgrade (or downgrade) your package at any time by simply emailing beth@babysittingconnection.com

How do I cancel my membership? +

You can cancel your membership at any time by emailing Beth@babysittingconnection.com

Where do you find your sitters? +

We search the city for the top sitters for our members and love referrals from our current sitters and members. We also contact sitters through local babysitting message boards as well as recruit directly from local Universities.

How are your sitters certified? +

Our Owner Beth meets each babysitter candidate for an in person or virtual interview. Once they complete their interview and are offered an opportunity to join Babysitting Connection they go through an extensive background and driving record check.

Through Active Screening, we conduct a Social Security Number Trace, Sex Offender Registry Check, Global Watchlist Check, National Criminal Search, FCRA Compliance tools and a Motor Vehicle Record Check.

Sitters also must verify that they have a valid drivers license and reliable transportation, an up to date CPR Certification and are at least 18 years of age.

After completing each of these steps successfully, they are then added to our roster and are officially a Babysitting Connection Sitter!

What happens if my sitter doesn’t show? +

We are proud to say, that in over 15,000 sits, this has happened only a handful of times. But here is our policy just in case:

Both you and your sitter are sent a confirmation email or text 24 hours prior to your scheduled sit. We do all that we can to ensure that our sitters show up, on time, for your scheduled sit. In the event that a sitter is a no call, and no show, please contact Beth immediately and she will do all that she can to find a sitter as soon as possible and refund any sitting fees paid.

What happens if we don’t hit it off with our sitter? +

First, I apologize, we try to include enough information in our Sitter’s bios to help ensure a proper fit for your family. We have over 100 sitters on our roster and encourage you to try another sitter that may better fit with your families needs.

What happens if you want to book the same sitter again for the next sit? +

We love that you and your family hit it off with our sitter!! Next time you book, keep an eye out for them on the roster to book them again, you can also select their name from the drop down menu and see all of their availailbity. You may also speak to the sitter directly about their upcoming availability. But remember, members are not allowed to book Babysitting Connection Sitters outside of our agency and all sits must be booked through the scheduling software. To ensure the best selection of sitters we encourage you to book your sitter at least two weeks in advance.

What if there is an issue with our sitter? +

If there is an issue that you and the sitter are unable to resolve on your own, please contact Beth immediately to discuss further.

You can also request not to have that sitter again by clicking on the sit you had with them and selecting "Do not want again."
